The Government of Ghana has threatened to sue Godsbrain Smart popularly known as Captain Smart, Onua Fm and Media General (MG) for defamation should the radio presenter continue to peddle false and malicious comments against the President of the Republic.
In a press statement issued by the ministry and signed by the Deputy Information minister, Fatimah Abubakar was responding to a viral video where Captain Smart was indicating President Akufo-Addo is directly involved in illegal mining, a menace the President is propagating to be fighting.
The statement stated emphasised that President Akufo-Addo has never been and is not involved in any illegal mining as alleged by the presenter.
Meanwhile, the government has referred the matter to the National Media Commission for application and adjudication but warned of the possibility of the President’s legal team taking up the matter.
