Nigeria’s football legend, Jay-Jay Okocha has taken a swipe at African countries going into this year’s FIFA world cup in Qatar in November 2022.
In a statement, the former Super Eagles player doubts if African countries, including Ghana, could make any positive impact at the world football tournament.
He insisted that Asia and North American countries seem to be stronger and more advanced than African countries.
He wrote: “It is the first time I’m not confident about Africa’s chances in the World Cup. If you look at Asia and North America, they seem stronger and more advanced than us”.
“We were already 50 paces behind South America and Europe, and now North America and Asia seem to be ahead of us. We have hopes in Senegal and Morocco, they seem the strongest. Tunisia, Ghana and Cameroon seem to be a stepping stone for other teams to reach the knockout stages,” Okocha stated.
Ghana is in Group H with Portugal, Uruguay and the Korean Republic.
