Eden Hazard announces retirement from international football days after Belgium exited the 2022 FIFA world cup at the group stage.
The 31-year-old says the decision is to make way for him to focus on his club career.
The forward wrote on social media, “A page turns today,” he posted on social media. “Thank you for your love. Thank you for your unparalleled support. Thank you for all this happiness shared since 2008.”
He then confirmed “I have decided to put an end to my international career. The succession is ready. I will miss you.”
The former Chelsea man has had regular first-team football come far and few in-between at Madrid since joining the Los Blancos in the summer of 2019 from Chelsea.
