The Nkosuohene of Kwahu Nkwatia Nana Owiredu Wadie (I ) has built and handed over a Circuit Court Complex to the judicial service of Ghana.
The Nkwatia Circuit Court Complex is a modern court facility which consists of large capacity court room, judge’s chamber, Cashier office, Registry, ADR Secretariat, ADR room, cabinet room, storerooms ,car park, Washrooms among others.
The project was fully funded by Nana Owiredu Wadie (I) with support from the Wadie family,his NGO the Kabaka Foundation ,and executed by Freedom Builders Construction Limited owned by Opanyin Kwame Wadie.
Commissioning the Court Complex facility ,the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah commended Nana Owiredu Wadie (I) for supporting the judiciary to bring justice to the doorsteps of the people.
He said in a speech read on his behalf by His Lordship Richard Adjei Frimpong, a Court of Appeal Judge that “our gathering here today is fulfilment of a promise by Nana Owiredu Wadie (I) Nkosuohene of Kwahu Nkwatia and Chairman and Founder of the Kabaka Foundation to ensure further access to justice by the people of this area to assure investors peace and security. It is also to commemorate the first anniversary of his enstoolment as Nkosuohene of Kwahu Nkwatia, the idea of the construction of this court house came upon the realization that the entire Kwahu East District had only a Magistrate court that’s the need for a Circuit Court or a High Court in the jurisdiction”
The Chief Justice stated that, the bold initiative by Nana Owiredu Wadie (I) is not only a demonstration of support to the Judicial Service to enable it to live up to its mandate but it is also an act of patriotism which must be emulated by all well meaning Ghanaians “it bears emphasizing that we have a collective responsibility to ensure that democracy thrives in this country and this cannot happen without a well resourced Judiciary which is the bashing of the rule of law”.
The Chief Justice urged all Ghanaians to have confidence in the judiciary and make use of the courts to resolve disputes .
Justice Kwasi Anin- Yeboah therefore admonished traditional rulers in Ghana to desist from addressing criminal matters in the palaces and allow courts to apply the laws of the land.
He said “it is our resolve as an Institution to build a system of justice that assures our country men of efficient , timely and quality justice delivery.The court we are inaugurating today definitely meet the standards of utility and modernity. It also addresses our quest to deal with the lack and the distressingly poor state of our physical infrastructure which have over the years debilitated against the effective operation of the court generally and rendered our services to the people of Ghana sometimes ineffectual”
Additionally, he highlighted that the construction and commissioning of Kwahu Circuit Court Complex by Nana Owiredu Wadie (I) is unprecedented and it adds to the ongoing investment to the judiciary Infrastructure by the government.
The Chief Justice stressed that, court houses are national assets which must be cherished ,protected and maintain appropriately for posterity therefore called for frequent maintenance of the Nkwatia Court facility by the district assembly and stakeholders.
The Nkosuohene of Kwahu Nkwatia also the Founder of Kabaka Foundation Nana Owiredu Wadie (I) who has in the past one year built a District and divisional Police Commands at Nkwatia ,and provided the police with Operational pick-up vehicle, was confident that the presence of the Circuit court will help provide security ,peace and justice in the area.
“As the Nkosuohene of Kwahu- Nkwatia, I have always been passionate about the development of our town Kwahu Nkwatia. One of the key ways we can achieve this is by improving security and ensuring the safety of our citizens and tourists alike.Through my foundation, the Kabaka Foundation realized that the establishment of this new court complex is a crucial step towards achieving this goal”
“By providing a fair and effective justice system ,we can reassure investors and visitors that Kwahu is a safe and security place to live and do business.But improving security is not just about building new institutions,it is also about fostering a sense of oneness , peace and unity within our community.”
On the other hand, Nana Boamah Ayiripa (III) , the Chief of Kwahu Nkwatia, who was glad about the project said Nana Owiredu Wadie (I) over the years has championed development in the Kwahu area and Ghana as a whole therefore he needs to be commended for his immense contribution.
He appealed to the Chief Justice to upgrade the Nkwatia circuit court to High Court in due time.
The Member of Parliament for Abetifi Byran Acheampong said as part of the overall agenda to lift up Kwahu for future regional status, the security of the area is seriously being boosted hence appealed to IGP to rename the new Eastern North Regional Police command to Kwahu Regional Police Command.
The Lawmaker also hinted of plans to establish police Jungle Warfare training center in the Kwahu enclave.
Bryan Acheampong said in the next three years all courts in the Kwahu area are going to see unprecedented refurbishments.
He urged the Kwahu Traditional Council to acknowledge the massive contribution of the Wadie family and lift their traditional status in the area when the need be.
