This year’s Celebration of the Kwahu Easter Festival has been called off due to the Corona Virus scare which has engulfed the world and was pronounced pandemic by the World Health Organization.
The most famous and attractive festival in Ghana, which is celebrated on the eve of Easter usually attracts tourists revelers from all over the world because of the paragliding.
However, a statement signed and issued by the Kwahu Traditional Council said the decision has become necessary to comply with President Nana Ad do Dankwa Akufo Addo’s directive to ban all public gatherings in the quest to avoid the further spread of the dreadful coronavirus.
The statement also restricted all chiefs to celebrate their respective Akwasidae only indoors with few contacts whole it also bared all chiefs from traveling unless it has become necessary.
Funerals and a one-week celebration of dead persons within the Kwahu Traditional Council have also been banned as part of precaution measures not to spread the virus among themselves.
Six cases of Coronavirus have already been confirmed yesterday Sunday, March 15, 2020, by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of information.
