The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa convened a very fruitful meeting to assess the Novel Coronavirus preparedness on Monday, 16th March 2020.
The meeting which was held at the Battor Catholic Hospital had in attendance the District Health Director and her staff; Medical Superintendent of the Battor Catholic Hospital; Doctors; Nurses and members of our special Coronavirus Task Force.
Mr. Ablakwa also took the opportunity to donate cartons of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, Veronica buckets, face masks, disposable gloves and assorted paper towels to be used by frontline health workers at all 29 health facilities within the constituency.
He assured the amazing health professionals that their request for Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs), gumboots, shields, goggles and infrared thermometers would be personally delivered before the close of the week.
“We also conducted a tour of our improvised isolation center which we hope to complete in a couple of days.
The meeting graciously accepted my offer of compensation for the task force and an insurance package for the team of five which includes a doctor and three nurses responsible for providing care at the isolation center.
We remain hopeful that pronouncements at the national level will trickle down and soon manifest in districts outside the capital such as ours, for all health professionals everywhere in Ghana deserve our attention particularly at this time of tremendous sacrifice on their part”, The MP stated.
