The Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), Dr. Ishmael Ackah, together with some members of Management and staff of PURC has commissioned a mechanized borehole at the Methodist Senior High/Technical School in Biadan-Berekum in the Bono Region.
The occasion was graced by the Member of Parliament for Berekum East Constituency, Hon. Nelson Kwaku Kyeremeh and the Headmistress of the Methodist Senior High/Technical School, District Chief Executive and the Clergy.
Present at the event from PURC were the Director, Energy Services and Performance Monitoring, Ing. Fred Oblitey; Director, Finance and Administration, Mr. Wallace Duodu; Director, Research and Corporate Affairs, Dr. Eric Obutey; Regional Manager for Bono Region, Mr. Patrick Antwi.
The Executive Secretary of the PURC, Dr. Ishmael Ackah in his address indicated that the 10,000-litre tank capacity was one of four mechanized boreholes, which the Commission has assisted the community with, through its pro-poor water interventions. He encouraged the students and members of the community to own the project and pay particular attention to its smooth operations for the benefit of the entire community.
The Member of Parliament for Berekum East Constituency, Hon Kwaku Kyeremeh on his part acknowledged the PURC and encouraged other state actors to take a cue from activities of the Commission and extend their operations to cover the needy in society.
Hon Kwaku Kyeremeh urged the community to desist from any negative behavior that will ruin the future of the project and the benefits to be derived from it, given that water is life.
He placed a request before the Commission asking for more projects in his constituency.
