Ghana commemorates World Oral Health Today, Friday, 20th March 2020.
The theme for the 2020 campaign is “Say Ahh: Unite for Mouth Health”. So, this World Oral Health Day, we want everyone to make a pledge for oral health.
World Oral Health Day is celebrated on March 20 every year with the aim of creating awareness on the benefits of a healthy mouth and promoting the importance of oral hygiene.
Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping one’s mouth clean and free of diseases.
According to the Ghana Dental Association (GDA),” So, this World Oral Health Day, we want everyone to make a pledge for oral health. Through everyone’s collective pledge and efforts, we hope to reduce the burden of oral disease worldwide.
Let us know what you will do: Share your pledges on social media using hashtags #WOHD20
#Uniteformouthhealth #GDA. We want our collective efforts and pledges to lead to happier, healthier lives.”
Last year, Unilever Ghana marked the World Oral Health Day with a call on Ghanaians to take oral health seriously.
Deputy Minister of Health, Madam Tina Mensah who represented sector minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu said the Ministry was passionately subscribing to realization of the Sustainable Development Goal 3 which seeks to ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all ages by 2030.
“We continue to act on mass health by bridging the gap between dentists and the populace, but the harsh reality is that most dentists like other health workers want to be in urban areas and this affects our brothers and sisters in the remote areas,” she said.
