A private security man has been killed by armed robbers at Akyem Kwabeng in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred Saturday, March 21, 2020, at about 2:00am.
The body of the deceased security man, Tahiru Adamu, 43, has been deposited at Engresi Government Hospital Morgue.
Mybrytfmonline.com has gathered from the community that, the four (4) member armed robbery gang stormed the Finest Fuel Filling station tied the security man in a room, lynched him with a cutlass, crowbar, and pinch bar before finally breaking into the office where sales were kept.
The robbers absconded with a huge amount of money yet to be known.
A resident told mybrytfmoine.com that, shortly after the incident, some youth in the community went berserk in search of the suspect who was on the run and managed to arrest one in the house wearing a shirt stained with blood.
He said the timely intervention by police who came to his rescue saved suspects identified as Emmanuel Darko, 23, from being lynched by the youth.
He said, dissatisfied with the Police intervention, the youth invaded the police station with sticks and clubs in an attempt to whisk away the suspect from police custody to lynch him but were begged by some traditional and opinion leaders to stop.
“It was not easy, I am aboboya driver I transported some of the youth to the police station in an attempt to lynch the suspect but was restrained by some chiefs. They were wielding cutlasses, sticks, and guns”.Taamianwu a witness explained.
Meanwhile, Police have retrieved a big hammer from the room of the suspect after a search.
