Former President John Dramani Mahama has stated that his government will work tirelessly to develop social housing that will be affordable and accessible for ordinary Ghanaians.
To him, development on social housing will be one of his legacies as President after gaining victory in upcoming 2024 general elections.
Mr Mahama promised that his government will fight for the Rent Control Bill to be passed into law to prevent tenants from being unfairly burdened with paying more than one year’s rent in advance.
In a meeting with the National Tenants Union in the Greater Accra Region, Mr Mahama discussed his plans to tackle Ghana’s housing deficit by building low-cost houses across the country.
Mr Mahama deeply empathized with 19 million Ghanaians who are renting adding that housing is a crucial need.
He assured his commitment to build a brighter future for all Ghanaians, with housing being a pivotal aspect.
