Former Ghana international Mohammed Polo has encouraged the Ghana Football Association to appoint a Technical Director who can develop both coaches and players for the country.
Oti Akenteng’s tenure expired last month following the decision by the new GFA administration not to renew his deal.
The football’s governing body (GFA) has since opened applications in search of a competent person for the vacant position.
In an interview with Koforidua based Bryt FM, Polo advocated for a football developer as he strongly believes the technical department of the Ghana FA is very week and it’s about time, a competent person takes over to spearhead affairs.
“We need a technical director that will develop our football because our football has declined for so many years. Our qualification to the world cup on three occasions was not through the technical directorship that helps us to qualify. So it is about time we appoint one who can develop the game”
“To truth is that the immediate past technical director, Oti Akenteng was not in control. Before we invite players into the national team, the TD should have the knowhow but in our case, it is not like that. They don’t consult him when doing call ups but because he does not want to lose his job he couldn’t voice out” he said.
