The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the President of the Executive Committee of the Association of
African Election Authorities (AAEA), Mrs. Jean Mensa will host a delegation comprising women Chairpersons from eight Election
Management Bodies (EMBs) in Africa namely Cape Verde, Liberia, Ethiopia, Malawi,
Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The meeting is being held under the auspices of the United Nations Development Programme’s Regional Service Centre for Africa and the United Nation’s Electoral Assistance Division in collaboration with Intermational IDEA, the Association of African Election Authorities and the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
A statement issued and signed by SAMUEL TETTEY, DEPUTY CHAIRMAN, OPERATIONS said meeting will take place in Accra on the 5th & 6th of August, 2024.
The meeting aims at offering an opportunity for Women leaders of EMBs to establish a continental network of Senior Electoral Administrators to foster peer support among women in Election Management Leadership in Africa.
Additionally, the meeting will seck to review international and regional normative frameworks on women’s political participation in Africa.
