The Member of Parliament for Afram Plains South Constituency, Eric Osei Owusu has donated 10 cartoons of alcohol-based Hand sanitizers, 5 infrared Thermometers and 100 kits of Veronica Buckets to struggling Afram Plains South District Health Directorate to help in the fight against Coronavirus pandemic.
The Afram Plains South District is a deprived area in Ghana. The Area has no Hospital but has a Health center at the district capital -Tease.
Most of the health facilities are CHP centers located in very remote and Island communities with either no road or deplorable roads.
Logistics required for the dedicated frontline health workers to work efficiently have always been a major challenge.
Characteristically, Personal Protective Equipment(PPEs) and other logistics needed by health workers to work to contain COVID-19 are lacking exposing frontline health workers to danger.
The District Health Directorate is therefore on tenterhooks praying the District does not record any coronavirus infection.
In the meantime, the District Health Directorate is improvising and liaising with appropriate bodies with support from the District Assembly to embark on public education on the virus.
The Member of Parliament of Afram Plains South, Eric Osei Owusu encouraged health workers in the district to continue sacrificing for the health care of the poor.
He acknowledged that the District is neglected but hopeful the fortunes of the District will change one day.
