Former Eastern Regional Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Evelyn Korang, has emerged as the Eastern Region’s representative to the Council of State after securing 17 out of 66 votes in a highly competitive election.
She triumphed over 23 other candidates, including three women, in a male-dominated contest.
Evelyn Korang was declared the winner by John Appiah, the Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission.
In her victory speech, Evelyn Korang pledged an open-door policy, promising to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to advance the interests of the region and the nation.
Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey expressed excitement over Korang’s victory, particularly as it marked the election of a female Council of State member in the region.
She emphasized the importance of a strong Council of State to support President John Dramani Mahama’s agenda to reset Ghana.
