The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong has paid a working visit to ZIPLINE; Ghana’s Medical Drone project at Omenako in the Suhum municipality.
The visit was to familiarize with their operations and the minister took the opportunity to commend the management of the facilities for the successes chalked in improving health services delivery in the country, especially during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ZIPLINE played a key role in transporting test samples and other medications to various health facilities.
The minister was informed that Zipline employs and trains most of their workers from surrounding communities; creating job opportunities for the indigenous people.
The General Manager of Zipline Ghana, Naa Adorkor Yawson said since the commencement of operations in April 2019, Zipline has supplied over 1.43 million emergency medical products across the country.
These included 836,000 medical units, 566,000 vaccine units, and 6,203 blood units. She added that Zipline currently delivers vaccines and emergency products to 2,005 health facilities in the country.
“I applaud President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s leadership and Ministry of Health for such a meritorious initiative” he added.
