Militants killed at least 12 civilians in a spate of attacks on villages in volatile eastern DR Congo, according to local government and civil society officials.
The attacks in North Kivu province on Tuesday have been blamed on the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a group with suspected links to the so-called Islamic State group.
It came as President Felix Tshisekedi ruled out dialogue with neighboring Rwanda over the broader conflict in eastern Congo.
Eastern Congo has struggled with armed violence for decades as more than 120 groups fight for power, land, and valuable mineral resources, while others try to defend their communities.
Rwanda has denied allegations that it is backing some of the militants.
