The Business In A Box (BizBox) in partnership between the Mastercard Foundation and Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) have presented Start-up kits to 144 Youth in the West Akim Municipality in the Eastern Region.
The Start-up kits included 55 Dressmaking machines,15 Tailoring tools, 47 Hairdresser’s dryers, 10 Barbering Sterilizer, 4 Auto electrical Machines, 9 Welding tools and 4 for Mechanics.
The BizBox Project integrates tools, learnings, and support needed by the youth to start and grow their businesses.
Through training, mentorship, and coaching, qualified participants proceed to receive support with business formalization, product certification, and more.
The goal of the 4-year Project is to create dignified and fulfilling jobs for 250,000 young people in Ghana, with 70% being women and 10% Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) by 2027.
The synergy of this partnership lies within the Agency’s mandate as the apex body to promote and develop Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises(MSMEs) in Ghana and the Foundation’s vision for Ghana; to enable 3 million young women and men access dignified and fulfilling work by 2030.
The intervention ultimately aligns with the Government of Ghana’s goal to address youth unemployment by building an entrepreneurial nation and creating 1 million jobs for Ghanaian youth.
Presenting the Start-up kits to the Beneficiaries, Member of Parliament for the Lower West Akim Constituency, Honourable Charles Acheampong expressed appreciation to the Mastercard Foundation and Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) for supporting Youth in his Constituency.
He charged the Youth to take advantage of the Government and its partners social intervention policies for apprenticeship to curb unemployment and stressed on the need for the Youth to select Technical and Vocational Education Training.
Mr. Acheampong called on Ghanaians to consider Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as next President to continue the social intervention policies and urged people in the Constituency to give him another term in office to lobby for more apprenticeship projects for people in the Area to benefit.
