The Public Relations Officer of the True Drivers Union, Yaw Barimah has stated that all the sixteen driver’s unions in the country have agreed to the increment in transport fares.
According to the PRO, the decision was made as a result of an increment in spare parts, fuel prices, and service charges by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority.
Speaking in an interview with Bryt FM correspondent, Nhyiraba Nartey Solomon, Yaw Barimah indicated that commercial drivers have been badly hit by the recent increment in the prices, lubricants, spare parts and many others.
“True Drivers Union is already working with the twenty per cent fare increment from Saturday, May 7, 2022,’’ said Yaw Barimah.
He appealed to Ghanaians to accept the fare adjustment by the sixteen driver’s unions in the country as consulting is going on among the various unions.
Meanwhile, the commercial transport operators across the country, over the weekend, adjusted transport fares upwards by 20 per cent.
