The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has revealed that some 17 MPs and 151 Parliamentary staff and ancillary workers in Parliament have tested positive for COVID-19.
Following an upsurge in COVID-19 cases among Members of Parliament (MPs) and Parliamentary Service staff, the Speaker has suspended sittings for three weeks.
The Speaker directed all MPs and staff to resubmit themselves to the Parliament Health Centre “after two weeks to ascertain their status before the assumption of the House” on March 2, 2021.
The cumulative cases of COVID -19 as of 5th February 2021 stand at 73,003, with 6,938 being active.
The number COVID related deaths are 482, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has said.
