The Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by Justice Ayitey Armah Tetteh has sentenced a 19-year-old unemployed man to 15 years imprisonment in hard labor for robbing a Nurse and others of mobile phones and cash.
Edward Kyei, the accused pleaded guilty when he was charged for robbery.
Detective Sargent Wisdom Banson, the prosecution official told the court that Complainant is a Nurse in Akwatia while the accused is unemployed in Adankrono and on 24/11/19 at about 8:15 pm, the complainant went to Birim Court Pub to have fun.
The prosecutor said the complainant went to the Pub washroom and upon arrival, the accused chased her with a pair of scissors and asked her to surrender all items on her possession otherwise she will be stabbed.
The complainant however handed over her purse which contained mobile phones and cash worth ¢2,550 to save her life.
Shortly after handing over the purse, Edward Kyei runs away but could not have the freedom after the complainant rushed to the Manager of the Pub and they chased the accused and nabbed him and handed him over to the Police.
Upon further investigation, the police retrieved other mobile phones believed to have been stolen from the same Pub and was arraigned before court for prosecution.
Items retrieved included Purse, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung galaxy 9x, Blue mobile phone, cycling beads, and ¢26.00 cash.
