A tipper truck carrying limestone’s from Otorkpolu in the Eastern Region to Takoradi for the manufacturing of cement has been involved in a near-fatal accident on accident-prone- Asitey junction of Otorkpolu to Odumase Highway.
The accident occurred on the afternoon of Monday, March 8, 2021.
Three persons onboard the truck including the driver is in critical condition hence rushed to St. Martins De Pores Hospital in Agormanya.
The tipper truck with registration number GT 7530-19 failed to break while descending towards a sharp curve at the Asitey junction causing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel thus running into a ditch.
DO II Ebenezer K. Djabatey, Yilo Krobo Municipal Fire Service Commander who led the rescue team of Fire officers to the scene said that 2 out of the 3 victims retrieved were unconscious.
