The Duayaw -Nkwanta Magistrate Court in Tano North Municipality of Ahafo Region has convicted two (2) robbers to a total of 82 months imprisonment for stealing from the mission house of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
The two convicts -James Agyapong, 23, and Gideon Amoahsa, 20, pleaded guilty after their charges were read to them by the Prosecutor Inspector Joseph Adams.
The Magistrate Court Judge Samuel Bright Acquah- convicted James Agyapong the ring leader to 47 Months imprisonment in hard labor while his accomplice-Gideon Amoahsa jailed 35 months.
The two convicts broke into the Mission House occupied by the Presbyterian Catechist -Charles Koranteng on Sunday 16th August 2020 while in Church and stole Fabrics, Sound system, school bag, speakers, Decorder, Balls and Palmnut soup, Banku and Tubers of Yaw.
“After the close of Church around 10:30 am I noticed my room has been burgled. Decoder, deck, five-set -speakers.they also took away my wife’s handbag, 4 pieces of cloths. They also took away my son’s school bag. The thieves went to the kitchen to steal tomatoes, garden eggs, onion among others. Food such as banku which had been cooked and soup were also taken away “The Catechist narrated to Bryt FM Correspondent Kojo Mframa
He added “the following day we had a hint about the suspects so the Police stormed their rooms and arrested the two young men at midnight.”
Duayaw Nkwanta Community is notorious for high incidents of theft and burglary.
Many Households, Schools, and Churches have fallen victim to the menace.
