Two hundred (200) student mattresses were burnt during the fire outbreak at Suhum Islamic Girls Senior High School in the Eastern Region on Wednesday night.
A preliminary assessment report by the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has said.
The report also stated, “Chop boxes, textbooks, et running into thousands of Ghana Cedis were also consumed by the fire”.
There were no casualties.

The room was only converted into a storeroom on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, for the students to keep items including chop box/trunks, uniforms provisions, and other personal belongings.
The cause of the fire is not known but officials of the Ghana National Fire Service from Nsawam who responded to extinguish the fire are investigating the cause.
The Headmistress Saphia Salisu has appealed to the government to come to the aid of the school to renovate the burnt facility.
