A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team Abraham Amaliba has said no Presidential candidate in the 2020 election had 50% Votes of the Total votes cast.
According to him, a report from the NDC’s Auditing Team indicates that NPP’s candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, and NDC’s John Dramani Mahama polled a little over 49% of total valid votes cast, meaning there should be a re-run of the presidential election.
Lawyer Abraham Amaliba said the Party is set to challenge the Presidential election result in court and was optimistic that the Supreme Court will order for a re-run.
The party is expected to file processes to contest the declared results in the Presidential election of December 7, 2020, as well as a selection of parliamentary results on Wednesday, 30th December 2020.
Former President and presidential candidate of the NDC, John Mahama has long rejected the results as “fraudulent”, saying he was unwilling to accept it, describing it also as “fictionalized results of a flawed election,”
He told a press conference the party will take “all legitimate steps to reverse this travesty of justice.”
