“The 2016 election campaign was different from that of 2020 my brother, it was made up of two groups. That of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, and we were pivot in the campaign”.
“In fact, it was as a result of our hard work that guaranteed NPP’s victory in the 2020 general elections, especially in the north, National Coordinator for Friends of Dr Bawumia, Rev. Opoku Acheampong told Kwabena Nyarko Abronoma.
Speaking on Bryt FM Ebesi sen political show on Thursday, Rev. Opoku Acheampong has emphasised on the need to ensure that, the Vice President is made the party’s flagbearer ahead of the 2024 elections if it wants to break the 8-year mantra in the country’s political history.
However, he spoke against perpetrators behind posters of Dr Bawumia that has been circulating in some parts of the country and on social media platforms on his intention to contest for the flagbearership position.
Rev. Opoku Acheampong alleged it could be masterminded by persons who want to tarnish the image and integrity of the Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.
Meanwhile, the office of the Vice President has also released an official statement distancing himself from the said posters.
