The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern region has inaugurated its Election Committee ahead of the 2020 elections.
Members have been charged to campaign on achievements of President Akufo-Addo to canvass votes for the party in the region.
National Organiser of the party, Sammy Awuku after ushering committee members into the office at Koforidua on Monday, 17th August 2020, indicated that, the dynamic of politics has changed and that it must be evidence-based hence the need to let Ghanaians know what government has done under President Akufo-Addo.
“Some countries were touted to be football nations some time ago but it is not so nowadays. The same applies to politics; we can’t do it the old ways. We have to let the people see what the government has done within their local communities, rather than making reference to that of other areas”.
“For example, if you are in Lower many a Krobo constituency, for instance, it is good to let the people in that locality know what the party has done for them in the area but not to make reference to the north” Sammy Awuku advised.
Sammy Awuku stressed “there is one thing you must put in mind, that is; we must win massively to prove that indeed the government has done a lot. Don’t forget the President is from the region”.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour in his welcome address, challenged party members to work hard to ensure massive victory for the NPP by leaving no stone unturned.
He was optimistic the party can win all the 36 seats in the region if much effort is put into the campaign.
He warned against party executives who refused to make good use of resources presented to them by the National executives to intensify campaign for the party’s victory.
Mr. Kingston Akumeng Kissi, the Regional Chairman of the party, however, commended members of the party for their various roles played for the successful compilation of the just ended new voters registration exercise by the Electoral Commission.
He, again, challenged supporters to give in their best to ensure the party records an unprecedented win in the region.
