The Ghana Statistical Service says they will need the services of over 6,000 people to help successfully carry out the 2020 Population and Housing Census in Eastern Region alone as field officers.
Speaking to the media, the principal Statistician at the National headquarters Mr. John Foster Agyaho said the recruitment will be done online to enable the service to have a central database for the staff that will be used for the exercise.
He said every district; they will have one person who oversees the field workers as their boss who happens to be the District Census Officers.
This came to light when the Ghana Statistical Service organized a two days Orientation workshop for the Eastern Regional District Census Officers in Koforidua on Friday, 17th January 2020.
“We brought 41 District Officers from Oti and Eastern Region and we have nine facilitators who are guiding them through the orientation,” Mr. John Agyaho said.
“The expectation is that at the end of this two days’ workshop they will better understand the working of the census, what they are supposed to do as district managers of the census and how they can help educate the people over there” he added.
He said any Ghanaian who is interested to work with them can go to our website GHstar.com to apply and the basic qualifications, they are looking for an SSCE certificate, once you have 6 passes you can apply and need to be known with the district that you are choosing and also be able to speak at least one of the local languages over there.
