The Ghana Library Authority has declared 2022 as the “Year of Books” under the theme “Libraries as Community Anchors for Transformation”.
Accra had been designated as the World Book Capital in 2023, therefore as a prelude, the 2022 Year of Books is to raise awareness on the need to invest in increasing book stock on the shelves of public libraries in the country.
Mr. Hayford Siaw, the CEO of the Authority who launched the project was optimistic it would help improve the learning skills of children and Ghanaians in general.
Libraries play a significant role in teaching and learning as well as research works of individuals and continue to have an impact on our day-to-day knowledge acquisition.
