The Intercity State Transport Corporation’s (STC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nana Akomea, has urged with the irate New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament not to boycott the presentation of the 2023 Budget by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
On November 24, 2022, the embattled Finance Minister will read the budget on the Legislative House floor.
“The NPP have already agreed to this and have issued a statement, following your meeting with the President, that you will allow the Finance Minister to present the budget and also permit the Appropriation Bill to be passed as well as give him the opportunity to have at least staff-level agreement from the IMF. So, if you have accepted these measures, then I expect you to follow it. Thus, it means the Finance Minister presenting the budget shouldn’t be an issue,” he said on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show.
But according to sources, the Majority Caucus has vowed to boycott it over their demand that Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta be fired.
Nana Akomea responded to the situation by requesting that the MPs respect their agreement with the President.
In an emergency meeting with the President, the MPs, according to Nana Akomea, agreed to the conditions that the Minister would complete Ghana’s agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and also deliver the budget.
