Dr. Stephen Amoah, member of parliament for Nhyiaeso claim that during the presentation of the state of the nation address, President Nana Akufo-Addo showed humility and empathy and did not say Ghana was like heaven.
He believed that the President’s expression of sympathy was a call for the Parliament to come together and help the nation’s economic revival.
“The President demonstrated empathy because it wasn’t something that he was like ‘o Ghana I’ve done everything, why are you complaining?’ no, he was very humble”, he said during an interview on JoyNews’ PM Express.
“It was indicative of the fact that he combined humility and respect and empathy, that was the first thing. And it was a sign to unify us as a House”.
On Wednesday March 8, President Akufo-Addo addressed the nation during his State of the Nation Address, focusing mostly on the economic problems the nation has been facing since the election of COVID-19.
Nonetheless, some of the Minority members have criticised his talk as being full of lies and ridiculous.
They assert that the President’s presentation on the state of the economy, the debt crisis facing the government, and the Covid-19 expenditures misrepresent the actual state of affairs.
Dr. Amoah, is however, adamant that the President was being truthful.
“The President was very honest; he didn’t say Ghana was heaven. … and he went further to even affirm the fact that this was global, by stating what the IMF boss said that Ghana was doing well till Covid and Russia came, which is a fact you can argue and debate. There could have been other domestic factors” he said.
