The 2024 budget declaration has drawn criticism from the Minority in Parliament, which calls it “empty.”
According to Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader, the budget is insensitive and would make Ghanaians’ financial problems worse.
These remarks were expressed by Parliamentary Ajumako Anyan Essiam on Wednesday after the presentation by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
“This budget is what we describe clearly as an empty budget. Mr Speaker, the government will be leaving behind a bankrupt economy. The government will be leaving the country in an ahokyere (hardship) state,” he said.
The administration, according to Mr. Ofori-Atta, has taken significant steps to improve Ghana’s economic situation.
The Minister supported his claim with the steadily declining rate of inflation and the stability of the Ghanaian Cedi.
