A new op InfoAnalytics in July 2022 shows former President John Mahama of the opposition National Democratic Congress taking a significant lead in his quest to lead the country again in 2025.
Mr Mahama, according to the poll, now leads Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party by 58% to 31% (27% margin) in terms of electoral popularity.
The poll also established that a further 11% prefer to vote for someone else in the 2024 elections.
In another hypothetical race between Mr Mahama and Mr Alan Kyerematen, the Trade and Industry Minister, who is one of the frontrunners in the governing party’s flagbearer race, Mr Mahama led with 61% to Mr Kyerematen’s 30% (31% margin).
In the race to lead the NPP, the poll shows Mr Kyerematen attracting 42% of the votes compared to 35% for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and 11% for Mr Kennedy Agyepong.
Mr Agyapong, who is the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a late entrant into the NPP race, according to the poll, appears to have turned the NPP race on its head, at least, among general voters, as he peels away support from Dr Bawumia and Mr Kyerematen.
Mr Agyepong, according to the poll, leads in Weija Gbawe, Okaikwei South, Anlo, Akim Oda and Asene-Akroso-Manso.
In the race to lead the NDC, Mr Mahama maintains a stable lead over Dr Kwabena Duffuor, as he is backed by 71% of voters compared to 15% for the former Finance Minister while Mr Kojo Bonsu obtains 2%.
