President Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians to vote massively for the Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as he aims to break the eight on Dec 7.
Speaking to chiefs and influential people in Wa, in the Upper West Region, President Akufo-Addo affirmed his trust in Vice President Bawumia’s competence and loyalty, saying he has never questioned the vice president’s commitment to serving the country.
Voting for Bawumia, in Akufo-Addo’s opinion, is a vote for devotion, loyalty, and hard work. In order to maintain the NPP’s development agenda, the president urged Ghanaians to back Bawumia in the next elections in 2024.
In his speech, President Akufo-Addo chastised John Dramani Mahama, the head of the opposition, and urged supporters to choose Bawumia because she is the candidate who can advance the gains the NPP has accomplished.
“In the nearly 20 years that I have been working with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, I have not had one day, one occasion to doubt his loyalty, to doubt his commitment to our common goal. And I have come here to ask you for your support to make Bawumia break the 8.
“I see that the former president is saying all kinds of things about the number 8 that he chose. That it means he is going to win. Breaking the 8 and having the number 8, that is not a good sign at all.”
