The former chief executive officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has publicly endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Dr. Kokofu expressed his confidence in Bawumia’s capacity to lead the party to victory in the general elections of 2024.
In the event that Dr. Bawumia is elected president in the general elections of 2024, Dr. Kokofu thinks he will put Ghana on firm ground and lead the nation toward prosperity.
He stated these things at Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s announcement as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate on Tuesday, July 9, in an interview with Hafiz Tijani, the Ashanti Regional Correspondent for Channel One TV.
Dr. Kokofu expressed his belief that Dr. Bawumia and NAPO’s collaboration will advance and drive progress in Ghana, calling it a “solid ticket.”
“We have pledged to resolve whatever matters there are in, whatever differences or whatever shortfalls that we encountered. Dr Bawumia is prepared to reverse all those things and set the nation on a very sound footing. The ticket is solid and it’s going to help Ghana move forward.”
In order to guarantee that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) wins the next elections with a landslide, he reiterated the party members’ resolve to unite behind the Bawumia-NAPO ticket.
When asked whether he thought Dr. Bawumia’s/NAPO’s ticket was ideal, he responded,“Very much so, not to me alone, we in the Ashanti Region, we’re very grateful to the flagbearer to have considered one of us in the Ashanti Region in NPP.
“We have already pledged our full support for the ticket; we will work hard to secure 80% of the votes in order to ensure a first-round victory for Dr Bawumia and Dr Opoku Prempeh. It’s a victory for Ghana and a victory for the NPP”, he stated.
