Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Running Mate to Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged Ghanaians to have faith and believe in John Mahama as he envisions in an effort to reverse the economic downturn that has engulfed the nation.
She insists that the NDC’s 24-hour economy policy is a crucial part of their plan to save the nation from the consequences of the current administration’s economic incompetence.
She clarified that although the job shift system benefits businesses by offering tax breaks, lower tariff rates, and higher productivity, it will increase employment and financial reliance for households and workers.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang called on all organizations to fully participate in the next national 24-hour economy during her speech at a durbar of Chiefs in Denkyira Bibianiha in the Upper Denkyira East constituency of the Central Region today, marking the beginning of her regional campaign trip.
Her comments on the 24-hour economy came in response to Nana Appiah Kubi, the chief of Denkyira Bibianiha, who expressed concern about the high prevalence of poverty and unemployment in the area, which has left the youth in the area in a bleak situation.
“The NDC will restore hope and rebuild the economy to meet the aspirations of the Ghanaians,” she said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, who had spoken with vendors at the town market, observed that in order for small-scale businesses to expand, the government must offer the necessary assistance, including finance.
Furthermore, she stated that it is the responsibility of the government to supply the infrastructure required to enable the quick development of places like Dunkwa and Denkyira.
She reminded the Chiefs that the past NDC governments had funded all of the major infrastructure projects in the area, including schools, health centers, and roads, and she asked them to vote heavily in favor of the NDC in order to keep up its good work.
“We have done it before, and you can trust us to do it again for you,’ she said.
