President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that the New Patriotic Party, with Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia leading the party as flagbearer, deserves to win the general elections scheduled for December 7, 2024, because the party has accomplished a great deal in the previous seven (7) years.
“The party has undertaken huge development projects across the country, and deserves to be maintained”, Mr Akufo-Addo said at a grand durbar of the chiefs and people of Effutu (Winneba) in the Central Region to climax the annual Aboakyer Festival on Saturday, 4 May 2024.
Throughout the elections, the president of Ghana asked the people to maintain peace.
“The world awaits the outcome and events leading to, during and after the December 7 polls, as a result, all must show political maturity and carry out routine works in peace to prove to the world that Ghana is a peaceful country,” he said.
On January 7, 2025, President Akufo-Addo steps down from office. He had often voiced his confidence that he will pass the reins to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, his vice president, rather than to former President John Mahama, the leader of the main opposition National Democratic Congress.
