The New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Bosiako, also referred to as Chairman Wontumi, has declared that the party’s goal is to win every seat in the area.
According to the outspoken Chairman, “our target to win all forty-seven constituencies is still in motion. We will have to deliver it. The running mate has also given us an 85% target, which should be done as well.”
The NPP’s vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, expressed confidence in the party’s ability to meet its lofty goal of 85% of the vote in the Ashanti Region when Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia runs for president.
Speaking on Sunday, August 11, during the Women’s Conference and Working Committee Meeting of the Ashanti Regional Campaign in Kumasi, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, emphasized the tactical benefit of having Dr. Bawumia on the ticket.
He emphasized how important Bawumia’s candidacy is to garner support and strengthen the party’s position in the area.
“It is easier for the NPP to get 85% in the Ashanti Region with Bawumia as presidential candidate than any time in the history of the party,” Chairman Wontumi said.
He added that an NPP government will better protect the social interventions of the current administration, such as the National Health Insurance Plan and the Free SHS program.
The NPP has historically enjoyed great support in the Ashanti Region, where 76.2% of the vote has ever been cast in a general election.
