Nananom, esteem media present, distinguished ladies and gentlemen. Permit me on behalf of Daasebre to express our gratitude for honoring the invitation to Akyem – Tafo, Anwansah Fie, to witness the launch of this year (2025) Ohumkan Festival, which marks a historic celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV, ascension to the Aduana stool.
Leadership is the most significant and critical aspect of all endeavours and the transformative essence in the ideas, process, experience, practices, endurance and innovation. However, these qualities are rare in human development, social responsibilities and experience. Aptly, to champion Tafoman’s vision and drive the Developmental agenda, we have in our time a gem in the garden of thorns whose exemplary leadership needs to be recognized and celebrated.
This year’s Ohumkan Festival Celebration marks 40 years of Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV vibrant leadership and service to humanity, since his ascension to the Aduana Throne of Akyem – Tafo. It is imperative to acknowledge that Daasebre is the longest serving senior chief in Okyeman. Our distinct culture gives meaning to the community existence and provides a roadmap to understand and navigate social development .

His elevation from Osabarima to Daasebre status in Okyem, epitomize his selfless, committed, development oriented and unrelenting leadership prowess and most importantly, an honor worth celebrating. Daasebre has over the years demonstrated his commitment to promoting good health, education, youth empowerment, infrastructure, culture heritage, and environmental sustainability among many significant initiatives and inniovations.
Under his able leadership, activities including educational sensitization programs, support and motivation for students and teachers, provision of educational facilities to schools and the establishment of Akyem Tafo Educational Fund has supported brilliant but needy students access quality education in his traditional area. Daasebre through the Tafo Educational Fund has also provided scholarships to support several students education : the annual best student award initiative and organized biodigester vocational training for some community members.
More importantly, Daasebre through the annual health sensitization and screening programs supported the registration of community members on to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). The annual health screening has also contributed immensely to the well- being of the people in the community. In addition, he facilitated in securing an incubator for the neonatal unit and entire face – lifting of the Tafo Government Hospital, and in providing an ambulance bay for the municipal ambulance service. His contribution to mitigating the effects of climate change and promoting sustainable environment through tree planting and community cleanup activities is unrivalled.
With regards to infrastructure, Daasebre championed the establishment of the community based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) centre at Old Tafo, which attends to the immediate health needs of the people. Currently, he has an ongoing multi – purpose community resource center project with facilities including event centre, computer laboratory and clinic for the community.

Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV was recognized by the International Cocoa Awards (ICA) and awarded the best cocoa flavor award in France in November 2015. This feat accentuated the international prominence of the Cocoa Industry in Ghana and Agricultural in general. We can all attest to the fact that Daasebre has used the the Ohumkan Festiva as a vehicle to promote our culture, heritage, and drive development in Tafoman. Once again, I extend his royal greetings and blessings to everyone, and I wish you all blissful day.
