President John Dramani Mahama has thanked Parliament for its prompt review and confirmation of his cabinet selections.
On Thursday, February 27, 2025, Mahama gave his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of his second term and praised the effectiveness and commitment of the parliamentarians.
“I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to Parliament for the prompt vetting and approval of my nominees for ministerial positions. This efficiency is unmatched in the history of the Fourth Republic,” he stated.
He underlined that this kind of collaboration between the legislative and executive branches shows the advancement that can be made when all arms of government cooperate for the sake of the country.
The Appointments Committee of Parliament has been thoroughly screening the President’s candidates for the previous few weeks. The first group of ministers, which included Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson as Finance Minister, Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor as Energy Minister, and Dr. Dominic Akruitinga Ayine as Attorney-General and Justice Minister, were approved by lawmakers on January 21, 2025.
Mahama emphasized the necessity of a fully functional government in order to carry out plans and objectives, and he urged Parliament to exercise the same care and promptness in accepting his deputy ministerial choices.
His comments highlight the spirit of cooperation between the legislative and the executive branch, creating an atmosphere that is favorable to national development and governance.
