President John Dramani Mahama announced that the Economic and Organized Crime Office has collected more than GHS 600 million as of December 2025, citing it as a significant step in the battle against corruption.
“As of December 2025, EOCO had recovered more than GHS 600 million,” he told Parliament during his State of the Nation Address. He added that the Office had investigated 462 cases, with 15 currently under prosecution.
As part of what he described as a concerted effort to safeguard public resources and crack down on organized crime, the President also revealed that EOCO had broken global car-jacking syndicates and recovered 29 luxury vehicles.
“Government remains resolute that corruption will not be tolerated, regardless of status or political affiliation,” Mahama said.
He emphasized that in order to guarantee that stolen money is returned for the advancement of the country, the Attorney General’s Office would continue to use both criminal prosecution and non-conviction-based asset recovery procedures.
