Residents in the New Juaben north municipality of the Eastern Region is calling on President John Dramani Mahama to remember an earlier promise he made to support the establishment of a bags factory in the area.
According to residents, the factory will be a great relief for them as it will help create job opportunities as well as boost the local economic growth.
President John Dramani Mahama during his tour to the New Juaben north constituency prior to the December 7 general elections pledged support to the parliamentary candidate, Isaac Adongo’s idea of establishing bags and other two factories when voted into power.
“I am going to support the Adongo’s idea of establishing bags factory here. My government will distribute school bags to students and this factory is going to supply these bags across the country”, then NDC President Mahama said this at Effiduase .
Few months into office, residents are reminding the President of the promise and urging him to fulfil it to ensure the issue of unemployment is lessen in the municipality.
Meanwhile, Mr. Isaac Adongo despite not winning the parliamentary seat is poised to ensure the establishment of the bags and other two factories are fulfilled.
Speaking to Kwabena Nyarko Abronoma on Ebesi Sen political show, the parliamentary candidate was optimistic the establishment of the factory would soon commence as a lot of engagements are currently ongoing with the appropriate institutions and investors.
He, therefore, appealed to the people of New Juaben to have assurance in the government as they will have their fair share of the national cake.
