A 25-year-old illegal miner has drowned in a mining pit at Akyem Apampatia in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region.
The deceased -Bokom Nicholas drowned while mining with other accomplices.
The body has been retrieved and deposited at the morgue.
According to the Police at Kwabeng, they had information that a male adult had fallen into a mining pit at Apampatia.
Police rushed to the scene and found the mining pit full of water. Divers swam into the mining pit and retrieved the lifeless body of the male adult identified as Nicholas Bokom aged 22.
Body of deceased was carefully inspected but there were no physical marks of violence to suggest foul play.
Deceased was wearing only a multi coloured boxer shorts.
Body of deceased photographed and conveyed to Chad morgue, Ankaase for preservation awaiting autopsy.
