The Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Abubakari Adams Abass has sentenced a 26-year-old man to three years imprisonment in hard labor for causing harm to one Yaw Charles King over a girlfriend.
The accused, Ayia Kwame Richard, popularly known as Macaroni was convicted on his plea when he appeared before the court.
Prosecution officer, Sergeant Samuel Owusu told the court that the complainant is a resident in Mepom while the accused person resides at Brekufom.
He said on 09/01/2021 at about 8:30pm, a misunderstanding came between the accused and complainant over a lady believed to be a girlfriend of one of them.
According to the prosecution, the misunderstanding turned into a fight, and the accused person, who was secretly armed brought out an okapi knife and stabbed the complainant’s neck, and run away.
The complainant was seen by an eyewitness who rushes him to Asamankese Government Hospital for treatment but his condition became critical and was later referred to Regional Hospital in Koforidua.
The complainant recovered and discharged later after which the accused was arrested and arraigned before court for prosecution.
