The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) in collaboration with the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE) and the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has started the Second batch of the Girls-In-ICT programme (1st – 6th July 202) with the aim of training another 500upper primary and Junior High School girls in Information Communication Technology (ICTs)
The programme also seeks to encourage young girls to take up career courses in ICT as well as develop interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
The training modules include,; Scratche, Computer Programming, E-safety, Game Development, website development, Animation, Coding and others.
The districts for the second batch are Ayawaso North; Ayawaso Central; Ga Central; Ablekuma North; Ablekuma West; Ablekuma Central; Ga East; Okaikwei North; Ga West; Ga North; Ga South and Weija Gbawe.
The Municipal Education Director, for Ga North, Mrs. Esther Jones Safo, Commended the Ministry and its Partners for extending the initiative to all districts in order to empower young girls in ICT skills.
She pledged her support for promgramme successful implementation and gave words of encouragement to inspire the girls as they begin their training in ICT literacy.
For the 1st batch which took place from 24th – 29th June also trained 500 girls in the following districts within the Greater Accra Region.
The districts include Ada East, Ada West, La Nkwantang,Ayawaso West, Krowor, Ledzokuku, Tema Metro, Tema West, Ashiaman, Shai Osudoku , Adentan, Prampram, Kpone Katamanso, La Dadekotopon , Ayawaso East, Korley Klottey, Ablekumah West and Ablekumah North.
In all, a total of 1000 girls will receive the Girls-In-ICT Training in the Greater Accra Region.
