A fire outbreak at Osino Senior High School in Fanteakwa South District in Eastern Region has led to the collapse of three students.
Fire gutted a storeroom on campus creating chaos among the students who were shouting for help whiles others run helter-skelter.
Although the fire was extinguished at the early stages of burning preventing it from spreading to the entire school facility, it caused damage to some logistics used for home economics practicals.
Additionally, some items belonging to the students were also burnt.
Three female students who attempted to pick their items from the smoke-filled room collapsed and were rushed to Kibi government hospital but treated and discharged.
The Housemistress, Grace Obeng mybrytfmonline.com that, the fire started around 5:30am.
According she was informed by the students that thick smoke was billowing from the storeroom.
“This morning around 5:50am the students informed me that smoke was coming out of the storeroom so I quickly switched off the main switch and started calling for help so the male students and some teachers on campus came around and helped to extinguish that fire. But some of the students lost items meant for practicals to the fire. Some of the logistics and materials such as Ice chest, cooking utensils, have all burnt”.
The housemistress said even though the cause of the fire is not known, he wouldn’t rule out arson as some residents continue to intrude on the campus due to the lack of fence wall around the school.
Some of the students called on the government to urgently intervene and support to enable them to do their home economics examination practicals.
