Thirty(30) displaced victims of the Gbinyire conflict in Savannah Region have arrived in Kyebi in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region after fleeing the violence in their community.
The group, made up of 14 men and 16 women, includes several children—among them a four-month-old baby.
They escaped through the bush before being escorted by police to Kumasi, from where they continued their journey to Kyebi to seek refuge with a relative.
One of the victims, Prince Appeh, arrived with his wife and infant.
According to Afua Samui Tabi, a relative who connected them to temporary shelter, the displaced families were visibly traumatized, with children weeping when they first arrived. They are currently being housed in an incomplete building.
The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Kingsley Agyemang, through the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has donated relief items to support the victims.

It was an emotional scenes as the displaced persons broke down in tears while receiving the aid.
Abuakwa South Municipal NADMO Director, Aikens Ofori, noted that more relief supplies are urgently required. He also raised concern about some of the victims resorting to illegal mining activities in a desperate bid to survive.
The Gbinyire conflict has displaced thousands of people in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and Bole Bamboi areas. Latest figures indicate that about 14,000 residents have fled to Vonkore in neighbouring Ivory Coast, with at least 17 lives lost since the clashes began.
