The Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Abubakari Abass Adams has convicted a 38 year old unemployed, Stephen Anane Ayitey to 30 months imprisonment in hard labour for indecently assaulting one Grace Animah, contrary to section 103(1) of the criminal offenses Act 1960(Act 29).
Stephen Anane Ayitey was also convicted into prison for 18 months for assault, contrary to section 84 of the criminal offenses Act 1960 (Act 29), all to run concurrently.
Inspector Samuel Owusu, Prosecuting Officer told the court that the complainant is a farmer residing in Breku-Manso near Asamankese and the accused also lives in the same town.
He said on 1st June 2019 at about 5; 30am, the complainant was returning from all-night prayer service to Betom-Owuram and on reaching Amanfoso-Breku-Manso, the accused emerged from the bush and attacked her and indecently inserted his figures into the complainant`s vagina.
The prosecutor said the complainant struggled with the accused and in the course assaulted her mercilessly and took Ghs200.00 away from her after the victim directed him that she has money with her in order for her to be released.
The accused later reported the case to the Asamankese Police and she was issued with a medical form for treatment at Asamankese Government Hospital and later the accused was arrested at a prayer camp and during interrogation, he admitted the offenses and was later put before court for prosecution after a report on the victim was sent to Attorney General`s office for advice.
