A total of 34 suspected armed robbers have been arrested in the Eastern region from January to May this year (2021), statistics by Ghana Police Service have revealed.
The robbers are believed to be behind numerous robbery cases within and outside the jurisdiction of the region.
The Eastern Region is the third region to have the number of suspects arrested within the period under review.
Western region picked the top spot with 58 robbery suspects grabbed by police followed by the Greater Accra region which recorded 55 arrests.
Ashanti Region recorded 31 arrests to occupy the fourth position.
26 suspected robbers were also arrested by Tema Police Regional Command while 14 suspects busted under Upper East Regional Police Command.
Northern region followed with 8 arrests, North East recorded 5 arrests of robbery suspects while Bono East region recorded the arrest of 4 suspects during the same period followed by Bono Region which recorded 3 arrests.
Two suspected robbers were arrested in Upper West, Savannah, Volta, and Ahafo regions each while Oti recorded 1 arrest.
Western North region recorded no arrest during the period January to May 2021.
A total of 239 suspected armed robbers were therefore arrested during the first quarter of this year.
