The Central Regional Police Command has arrested three hundred and forty (340) suspected criminals in a special operation dubbed “operation storm Kasoa”.
Majority of the suspects are Nigerians believed to be involved in robbery and cyber crime activities in the area.
The suspects who include five females, were swooped at areas such as Gomoa Budumburam(Liberia Camp), Odupong Ofaakor, Adade, Akweley and Kasoa CP.
Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Habiba Twumasi Sarpong told Bryt FM News Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah that, a total number of 245 laptops, 142 different brands of mobile phones and 6 Nigerian passports were retrieved from the suspects.
She said, nine (9) of the suspects were in possession of substances believed to be marijuana.
According to the Commander , arrested the suspects will be screened and those incriminated will be arraigned before the law court for prosecution.
DCOP Habiba Twumasi Sarpong urged the general public to volunteer more information to Police to enable it eliminate criminal elements in Kasoa to make the place safe and peaceful.
Kasoa has become a hidden place for criminals with high profile criminal cases including murders being recorded rampantly .
Security analysts in the country have warned that ,the level of insecurity at Kasoa is a time bomb if not nipped in the bud.
Some security analysts went on to suggest that the Ghana Police Service must establish a Police Command for the area to enable it rise up to the occasion to deal with the emerging sophisticated criminal activities ongoing at Kasoa.
