The Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams has sentenced a 36 year old unemployed, Kwadwo Gyimah to ten years imprisonment in hard labor for possession of narcotic drugs without authority, contrary to section 2(1) of the PNDC law 236/90.
The accused, who was arrested at Akim Swedru on 09/01/2019 for possession of 111 wrappers folded in the blown newspaper which weighs 134.98 tested positives for cannabis and another ten wrappers of heroin, pleaded guilty to the charge and he was convicted on his plea.
His accomplices, Kwadwo Yirenkyi who supplied the narcotic drug was absent from court but was sentenced to ten years imprisonment in hard labor, while Apraku Michael who is at Large was also charged for resisting lawful arrest and rescue and also assaulted a public Officer was also given ten-year jail term by the court.
Brief fact presented by Chief Inspector James Essel said the complainants are police officers in Oda Division and they arrested the accused persons on 10/01/2019 based on a tip-off at Akyem Swedru in their daily routine.
